Professor Alan Baker’s Jiu-Jitsu Training Camp returns to Woodstock, Georgia, for two days of intensive, immersive training.
Inspired by the original “Fight Lab” sessions Professor Baker held with his staff, this camp is built around continuous practice—not passive seminar attendance. Expect a rolling schedule of technical drills, focused rounds, live training, and open rolling designed to challenge your limits and accelerate improvement.
A round timer will run throughout the camp. Participants can step off the mat to rest whenever needed, but the training environment will continue. Those who want to test themselves can remain on the mat, work through fatigue, refine their timing, and experience the kind of progress that comes from sustained, focused practice.
TRAINING FOCUS
The camp will follow a progressive training flow that connects every phase of an encounter—from initial contact through control and conclusion.
Topics will include:
• Bridging the gap and closing distance safely• Entries against an opponent who may be striking or maintaining range• Takedowns and positional entries• Establishing and maintaining dominant control• Side control, mount, and back-control strategies• Fluid transitions between dominant positions• Mechanically efficient submissions• Adapting submissions for different environments• Escaping from disadvantaged positions• Regaining control and returning safely to your feet• Connecting individual skills into a complete tactical framework• Focused drilling, positional rounds, open rolling, and pressure testing
Every segment will connect to the larger objective: understanding how to control, neutralize, and finish an encounter using intelligent mechanics, timing, structure, and leverage.
ABOUT PROFESSOR ALAN BAKER
Professor Alan Baker brings a rare cross-disciplinary perspective to grappling.
He holds a fourth-degree black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Master Pedro Sauer, a Full Instructorship under Master Erik Paulson, and a second-degree black belt in Judo. He also holds instructor ranks in Filipino Dumog and Silat.
Drawing from decades of study across Eastern and Western grappling systems, Professor Baker teaches a highly specialized approach that blends structure, leverage, timing, pressure, and adaptability.
His Living Mechanics Jiu-Jitsu program is designed to help practitioners build a more efficient and intelligent game—one that does not depend solely on size, speed, strength, or athleticism.
