2026 Industrial Lyophilization Training

This course will provide an introduction to the fundamentals of lyophilization (freeze-drying), the common issues found in formulation design and the impact of formulations, tools for process design and process analytical technology and the use of them to design efficient lyophilization processes, how to avoid common pitfalls in designing lyophilization processes and how to evaluate the cakes produced by lyophilization. The course includes the use of a pilot and lab scale lyophilizer in an industrially comparable facility at UMass Lowell, case studies, and networking with experts.

• When: Monday August 10 - Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
• Where: Pulichino Tong Business Center room 120 for Monday, August10, Southwick Hall room 240 on Tuesday, August 11 and Pulichino Tong Business Center room 120 on Wednesday, August 12.
• Cost:

1. $2,800 for Industry
2. $2,100 (25% discount) for Advanced Mammalian Biomanufacturing Innovation Center (AMBIC) and National Institute for Pharmaceutical Technology and Education (NIPTE) consortium members.
3. $1,400 (50% discount) for Academia and Government employees.
