About this Event

Governments today face a new generation of policy challenges that extend well beyond traditional fiscal management. Inflation, geopolitical conflict, energy insecurity, and rapid technological transformation are reshaping national priorities while requiring governments to deploy increasingly diverse fiscal instruments—including subsidies, tax expenditures, public enterprises, industrial policy, and strategic public investment. These interventions often operate beyond conventional budgetary frameworks, yet they have profound implications for fiscal sustainability, economic competitiveness, and public accountability.

This conference will examine how fiscal policy has become a central instrument for addressing major public policy challenges in the United States and South Korea. Bringing together scholars, policymakers, and industry experts, the conference will explore how fiscal policy intersects with economic security, energy resilience, and emerging technologies, and how both countries can strengthen policy coordination in response to an increasingly uncertain global environment. By positioning fiscal policy as the common denominator across multiple strategic policy domains, the conference aims to foster an interdisciplinary dialogue that advances U.S.–Korea policy.

The conference will be held primarily in person, with the option to participate virtually for those who are unable to attend on site. Online participants will be able to join the conference sessions remotely via Zoom. The link will be shared in the confirmation email following your registration.
