Elburn Cub Scout Pack 107 along with the Elburn Police department are putting on their 5th annual FREE bike rodeo.Kids of all ages are invited to drop by the John Stewart Elementary parking lot on June 7th at 1:00pm with their bike and helmet to practice skills such as stopping and starting, signaling turns, zig-zagging around obstacles, and stopping to check for traffic at intersections.
There will also be bike inspections and safety instruction provided by the Elburn Police Bike Patrol.
This year we are going even bigger and having live music from the Geneva School of Rock, a rock climbing wall, a nerf axe throwing range, inflatable obstacle course, vehicles from the Elburn Police and Fire Departments, a drone demonstration, a hot sauce tasting booth, a bike repair tent and an egg drop competition (rules are in the discussion posts).
We will also be giving away prizes for the winners of the skill events, egg drop and for raffle drawing. Due to the generosity of the area's local bike shops and businesses, we have a number of helmets, gift cards, bike repair kits, bike lights, sirens and gift cards to give away!
Hot dogs, chips, drinks, etc will be available for purchase but the first 100 kids to register will get a free meal ticket. There will also be an ice cream truck.
If you happen to be a Cub Scout already, this event will count towards your Rank appropriate Bicycle adventure!
Parking will be available in the West parking lot so feel free to load up your bikes and bring them if it is too far to bike.
Volunteers needed! Want to help kids practice their biking skills and stay safe on the practice courses? This is a great opportunity for experienced riders to give back to the community. Please comment if you'd be interested.
