🔥 Fire up the smokers and get ready for one of the premier BBQ cook-offs on the KCBS circuit! The East Central Kansas State BBQ Championship returns August 28th & 29th, 2026 during the Paola Roots Festival!
Now in its 31st consecutive year as a KCBS-sanctioned event, this long-standing tradition brings together up to 70 elite BBQ teams from across the region to battle for championship honors in Chicken, Ribs, Pork Butt, Beef Brisket, and Sausage.
The Paola Recreation Commission is excited and honored to organize and lead this prestigious event for the first time in 2026 and looks forward to working alongside the Paola Roots Festival Committee to continue the storied tradition of hosting an outstanding BBQ competition during the festival.
