The flame has been lit.
The call has gone out.
And once again, adventurers are being summoned to Downtown Martinez.
Downtown D&D returns for 2026 with an entirely new adventure: The Gathering Flame — The Conclave Ignites.
For one day, Downtown Martinez transforms into a living fantasy world filled with quests, puzzles, challenges, taverns, strange characters, hidden clues, magical objects, merchants, and unexpected encounters.
This is not a traditional D&D session.
You do not need to know how to play Dungeons & Dragons.
You do not need dice, a character sheet, or any previous experience.
You simply need a willingness to play.
YOUR ADVENTURE
Adventurers will travel through participating Downtown Martinez businesses, taverns, gathering places, and the brand-new Cauldron & Cloak Marketplace, completing a collection of short interactive challenges along the way.
One stop may test your memory.
Another may require you to solve a riddle.
You may find yourself building a strange magical device, deciphering an ancient message, identifying a mysterious ingredient, negotiating with a questionable merchant, or completing a task whose purpose may not become clear until much later.
Every location becomes part of the story.
And this year, you will not be required to complete every stop.
Adventurers will have more freedom to explore, choose challenges, visit the marketplace, stop for food and drinks, and experience Downtown Martinez at their own pace.
But choose carefully.
Something is stirring beneath the Conclave.
THE CAULDRON & CLOAK MARKETPLACE
New for 2026!
Wander through our fantasy marketplace filled with artists, makers, merchants, curiosities, treasures, and interactive encounters.
The marketplace isn't simply somewhere to shop.
It is part of the adventure.
Some merchants may have information.
Some may have challenges.
And some may know far more about what is happening inside the Conclave than they're willing to admit.
TAVERNS, FOOD & GATHERING PLACES
Throughout your journey, you'll encounter participating Downtown Martinez taverns and gathering places offering their own small games, challenges, food, drinks, and opportunities to linger with your party.
This event is designed to be explored.
Take your time.
Eat.
Shop.
Have a drink.
Meet other adventurers.
Then get back to saving the realm.
THE CONCLAVE
At the heart of this year's story is the Gathering Flame — an ancient symbol meant to unite the realm.
Representatives have been summoned.
Messages have been sent.
Preparations are underway.
But not everyone arriving at the Conclave has the same intentions.
As your party completes challenges throughout the day, pieces of a much larger story will begin to emerge.

Most individual challenges are intentionally short, allowing adventurers to experience more of downtown without spending the entire day waiting in lines.
TEAMS
Downtown D&D is best experienced with a party.
Bring your friends, assemble your family, or gather your favorite band of questionable adventurers.
Recommended party size: up to 4 adventurers.
Coming alone?
Don't worry. Solo adventurers are welcome too.
COSTUMES
Costumes are highly encouraged but never required.
Come as a wizard, rogue, knight, bard, witch, ranger, merchant, mysterious traveler...
...or simply come as yourself.
AGE
Downtown D&D is designed as a family-friendly fantasy adventure.
Some participating tavern locations may serve alcohol and have their own age requirements for certain areas or offerings. Alcohol is never required to participate in the adventure.
CHECK-IN
Adventurers will receive their event materials and instructions at check-in before beginning their journey through Downtown Martinez.
Additional check-in details, starting locations, schedules and final event instructions will be sent to ticket holders before the event.
ONE TOWN. ONE DAY. ONE VERY STRANGE ADVENTURE.
Last year's Downtown D&D sold out.
This year the world gets bigger.
