Grandmasters, Masters, Black Belts and StudentsI cordially invite you to the Detroit Lakes Martial Arts Invitational Tournament. This invitational tournament is for U.S. ChangMooKwan Taekwondo Union, Cchoung Ryoung Hapkido Federation Members and invited guests. This year’s events include Forms(Taekwondo & Hapkido), Team Forms, Sparring, Weapons Forms, Board Breaking, Ultimate Brick Breaking, and Overall Grand Champion Awards. (see below for further details). This year we will be at the Detroit Lakes High school fieldhouse. I look forward to seeing all of you for a fun filled summer day in the lakes area.area.
DATE: Saturday, June 6th 2026
TIME: 9:00-11:00 a.m. Registration
10:15 a.m. Black Belt Referee Meeting
11:00 a.m. Opening Ceremonies/Start of Competition
LOCATION: Detroit Lakes High School Fieldhouse, 1301 Roosevelt Ave, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501
COMPETITION FEES: $50.00 Early registration Forms,Sparring, Weapons, Breaking(Under13) (due May 31st)
$65.00 day of registration Forms, Sparring, Weapons, Breaking(Under13 )
$ 5.00 additional for Breaking: (over13)
ADMISSION FEES: Adults - $5.00 5-12 yrs/Seniors - $3.00
Under 5 – FREE Military/Police/EMS-Free with ID
All participants should be in a clean Taekwondo or Hapkido Uniform.
All sparring competitors will be required to wear mouth guard, shin-instep pads, gloves, helmet, chest protector, and all males must wear a groin cup during sparring. Elbow or forearm pads are strongly recommended. Basic gear like Shin pads, Chest gear, helmet and gloves will be provided.
In order to more closely comply with current rules used in the USA for youth competitors and for safety; Junior Color Belt Competitors under 12 will not be allowed head kicks. Light Contact to the head will still be enforced in all Jr. Black Belt and Color belts 12 and over!
This year all sparring divisions will take place in matted rings and match scores will be posted live as the match proceeds
Medals will be awarded to 1st-4th place winners in each division. There will be large Team trophies for Most Competitors from a single dojang.
