Join us for the Chili & Salsa Showdown presented by Mission Foods on Thursday, September 17th 2026 at the Pueblo Convention Center!
3 Categories: Red Chili, Green Chili & Salsa
2 Rounds: Non-Commercial & Commercial
Non-Commercial: 8:15am Drop-Off
Commercial: 1:00pm Drop-off
Rules:
1. Must use Certified PUEBLO Green Chiles.
2. Cost of entry is $30 per commercial entry. $10 per non-commercial entry.
3. Chili is to be delivered at a safe hot temperature (135 degrees or higher) in a disposable container. The committee will keep the product hot in chafing dishes once turned in. Salsa must be delivered cold (41 degrees or lower) in a disposable container as well.
4. Prepared entries must be made from scratch.
5. In order to compete, a minimum of 1 quart will be required for judging.
6. Each contestant can enter only one item in each category, (green chili, red chili and salsa.)
7. Those submitting entries will not be allowed to talk to the judging panel.
8. The judging panel will include professional chefs from the American Culinary Federation, influencers, media personal and community leaders.
9. DECISIONS OF THE JUDGES ARE FINAL! This is a blind taste test competition.
Winners will be announced live at the Pueblo Chile & Frijoles Festival on the evening of Friday, September 18th. (6:00pm at El Pueblo History Museum Stage). Winners will also be posted on our social media channels.
Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place, in both commercial and non-commercial rounds.
