The Australian Armwrestling Championships return in 2026, bringing the country’s strongest armwrestlers to Brisbane for the pinnacle event on the national calendar.
Held in the impressive main ballroom of Hotel Grand Chancellor Brisbane, this year’s Nationals will feature double elimination competition across Open and Masters divisions for both right and left arms. In a major milestone for the continued growth of the sport, Junior classes will also be contested for the first time.
Divisions
Men’s weight classes: 70kg, 80kg, 90kg, 100kg, 100kg+
Women’s weight classes: Under 70kg, Over 70kg
Masters Men: Under 90kg, Over 90kg
Junior: Under 80kg, Over 80kg
Winners will take home the coveted AAF custom designed medals and earn the right to call themselves National Armwrestling Champion.

Pathway to Worlds
This is the only event that provides qualification to the World Championships. The top two Australian competitors in each class will qualify to represent Australia at the 2027 WAF World Championships in Canada.

11:00am to 5:00pm: Preliminary competition
