About this Event

Please join Minnetonka Public Schools and the Minnetonka Alumni Association as we celebrate the accomplishments of our outstanding alumni and former faculty members on Saturday, September 26 for our alumni awards event. The seventeenth annual event will be held from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at Minnetonka High School. A complimentary brunch will be served.

2026 Alumni Award Honorees are:

Distinguished Alumni

  • Paul Huber ’73 – Huber has spent more than four decades serving families in the Lake Minnetonka area with compassion, care and extraordinary dedication through his leadership of Huber Funeral Homes. A deeply engaged community leader, he has supported countless local organizations, events, youth programs and service efforts through both volunteerism and philanthropy. His lasting impact reflects a life defined by generosity, humility and an unwavering commitment to helping others in times of greatest need.
  • Kerry Olsen ’68 – Dr. Olsen is one of the world’s leading experts in head and neck oncologic surgery, known for groundbreaking contributions to patient care, medical research and surgical education. During his long career at Mayo Clinic, he advanced new treatment approaches, held numerous leadership roles and mentored generations of physicians and surgeons. His lasting influence reflects not only professional excellence, but also a deep commitment to wellness and the success of others.

Distinguished Service

  • Charlotte Bell ’65 – Bell has used her talents as an artist, photographer and organizer to create life-changing opportunities for women and girls in rural Mexico. Since 1999, she has played a vital role in elevating the work of Las Rancheritas by securing materials, promoting their art, organizing exhibits and sharing their story with wider audiences. Her longtime commitment to service has helped strengthen families, expand educational opportunities and empower a community through art.

Young Alumni Achievement

  • Brooke (Wassenaar) Marren ’14 – Marren has built an impressive career at the intersection of healthcare, engineering and innovation. A leader at Medtronic, she has helped guide major medical technology initiatives and recently played a key role in launching a groundbreaking clinical study in peripheral vascular health. She also gives back through mentorship, encouraging the next generation to pursue careers in STEM and make a difference through innovation.

Skippers Hall of Fame

  • Janet (Harrington) Jopp ’61 – A trailblazer for girls sports, Jopp played a pioneering role in expanding athletic opportunities for female students at Minnetonka. Through her leadership in the Girls’ Athletic Association, she helped bring intramural sports for girls to life, opening doors for future generations of athletes. Her historic legacy also includes becoming the first female student at Minnetonka to earn a varsity letter for athletic achievement.

Faculty Hall of Fame

  • John “Jack” Streed (Posthumous) – A beloved English teacher and mentor, Streed left a lasting mark on Minnetonka through his dynamic teaching, high expectations and deep care for students. Known for making classic literature meaningful, thought-provoking and fun, he encouraged generations of learners to read closely, think critically and express themselves with confidence. His legacy lives on in the many students whose lives were changed by his wisdom, compassion and enduring love of learning.
  • Loren Nelson – A gifted math teacher and devoted mentor, Nelson was known for making complex ideas accessible, practical and memorable for students across Minnetonka. Over a 34-year career, he made learning meaningful through real-world applications, high expectations and a steady belief in every student’s ability to succeed. His legacy extends far beyond the classroom through his mentorship, family outreach and lifelong commitment to education, literacy and service.
