Audition Information: Registration is now open for auditions for the 2026-2027 University of Maine Dance Team, and we're so excited to welcome new dancers! Auditions are open to any freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student enrolled full-time at the University of Maine during the 2026-2027 academic year.

Dancers will receive a confirmation email once registration is received. Confirmation will include our 2026-2027 Audition Packet and an Audition Participant Agreement (to be returned). Please download and review the audition information packet as it includes important information.
The Audition Participant Agreement is due with your Round 1 Video Audition.
Round 1 Video Audition
Due Date: End of Day on Sunday, April 26, 2026
Evaluation: Results will be emailed to candidates within one week of receiving their video.
Round 2 – In-Person Audition (invitation only, based on Round 1 Results)
Date: Sunday, May 3rd, 2026
Time: 9:00am-5:00pm
Location: Dance Studio in the Class of 1944 Building

2026-2027 Team Information:
All dancers selected for the 2026–2027 University of Maine Dance Team will participate as full members of the team and perform at home football games, Marching Band events, and required practices (Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). Members will also have the opportunity to continue into the Winter Dance season and perform at men’s and women’s basketball games.
Dancers who would like to be considered for the Competition Team must select this option when completing the registration form and demonstrate the additional advanced technical elements during the audition process.
Members selected for the Competition Team will be required to attend all regular team practices and performances, as well as additional competition-specific practices throughout the year. Competition Team members are also required to participate in the Winter Dance season, perform at basketball games, and compete in April 2027.

About Us:
The University of Maine Dance Team is a part of the Black Bear Marching Band, and provides pregame, halftime and stands entertainment during home football games. As a member of the Marching Band, you will belong to one of the most visible organizations at the University of Maine, performing for thousands of fans throughout the season.
During the spring semester, team members also provide pregame, halftime and stand entertainment during home men’s and women’s basketball games.
The Dance Team practices 3 to 4 days a week. Team styles include hip-hop, jazz, and pom, with a strong emphasis on technique in all routines.
Selected members will compete as a Division 1 team at NDA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona Beach, FL, in April 2027.
