About this Event
The Highlands Youth Citrus Project is open to all Highlands County youth ages 8 and older as of September 1, 2026. Over the course of this 10-month project, participants will explore the citrus industry, develop important life skills, and sell their citrus tree at the 2027 Highlands County Fair. This project involves a significant commitment across multiple areas, so please ensure you are fully prepared to participate before enrolling.
Participants may purchase one tree kit for $30 or two tree kits for $60. Those who purchase two kits will select their strongest tree to submit for judging and sale at the Fair.

Highlands Youth Citrus Project Expectations
1. Attend 2 of the 4 scheduled meetings (meeting #1 is mandatory)
2. Complete a record book
3. Completeand submit a display board, illustrated talk, or photograph
4. Submit your citrus tree to the Highlands County Fair
5. Submit thank you letters to buyer & sponsors
