About this Event
Women's Equality Day is celebrated annually on August 26th to mark the passing of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, which declared “The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex." Though many women, particularly women of color, would continue to face barriers to voting due to discriminatory laws, intimidation and other tactics of disenfranchisement, the 19th Amendment remains a major milestone in the push for women's equality in the United States. However, there is more work to be done.
Join the Howard County Office of Human Rights and Equity for an uplifting evening of music and song, designed to unite and inspire us to engage in collective action towards equality for all women. Let's come together in solidarity to champion women's rights as we explore how we can amplify our collective voices through music and make significant strides towards equity for women across the United States.
Dinner will be provided. Doors open at 5:30p.m.
Please note: registration is mandatory as seating is limited.
The Office of Human Rights and Equity strives to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. To be respectful of those with allergies and environmental sensitivities, we ask that you please refrain from wearing strong fragrances. To request an accommodation or for inquiries about accessibility, please contact OHRE Outeach at [email protected]. Accommodations requested less than five business days before the event are not guaranteed, though every effort will be taken to provide said accommodation.
