About this Event

About the Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence
The Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence is a grassroots gathering to bring permaculture education, networking, community building and skill sharing to permaculture enthusiasts, practitioners and those new to permaculture.
The first Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence was held in 2014 at the farm and homestead of the convergence founder, Drew Carlson in Rio, Wisconsin. From 2015-2017 the event was hosted at different locations throughout the state and returned to Rio in 2018. Organizers took a break during the following three years. The 2022 event returned to Rio. In 2024, we partnered with the Low Tech Institute in Cooksville, and now for 2025, we're excited to explore Wisconsin's beautiful Northwoods region at Holiday Acres Resort in Rhinelander.
We believe that by gathering, teaching, sharing, and networking we build a diverse, resilient community of people working toward building a better Wisconsin, region, country, and world.
Introducing the 8th Wisconsin Convergence, 2025
Welcome to the 8th Annual Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence, taking place from September 5th to September 7th, 2025. This year's convergence begins on Friday evening and extends through Sunday afternoon, offering participants the flexibility to join for any part of or the entire weekend.
The event kicks off with an informal gathering on Friday evening. Dinner is not provided, feel free to bring your own or join a pot luck. Throughout Saturday and Sunday, attendees can immerse themselves in a variety of workshops led by dynamic presenters, educators, homesteaders, activists, and resilience-builders. Saturday night features evening socializing and networking opportunities.
We warmly invite permaculture practitioners, enthusiasts, and newcomers from Wisconsin and neighboring states to join us for this extraordinary event. The Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence is more than just a gathering; it's an opportunity to touch your heart, expand your horizons, and leave feeling inspired and energized.

We look forward to welcoming you to this transformative weekend of community, learning, and growth.
Why Rhinelander? Exploring Wisconsin's Diversity
The Wisconsin Permaculture Convergence prides itself on moving around our great state to be both inclusive in terms of driving distances for participants, and to witness the broad diversity of our state's geographic, biological and ecological differences.
We've spent time on the east side, where the land and climate are moderated by Lake Michigan. We've spent time on the west side of the state, high up on karst and limestone bluffs. We've been in south central Wisconsin several times, enjoying the Madison microclimate and rural areas north and south of the capitol city.
It's time to venture north, into an entirely new USDA zone, and see what they're growing up there. But as if you needed more persuasion, this year's location is something else. The proprietors of Holiday Acres Resort are themselves permaculture practitioners, and are working to include permaculture design thinking into their resort operations.
