Each year, the West Virginia Book Festival brings nationally recognized authors to Charleston for presentations, workshops, and book signings for a celebration of books and reading.
The 2025 Festival will be held at the Charleston Coliseum & Convention Center on Saturday, October 25th, and this year’s event is headlined by best-selling authors Jayne Anne Phillips, Jeff Shaara, Neal Shusterman, and Rajia Hassib.
The West Virginia Book Festival also offers:
Literary Presentations.
Writing workshops and literary programs from area authors are featured throughout the day.
Word Play Activities for Children: 8 am – 5 pm.
Word Play is the area devoted to free, hands-on activity stations for children and families. Here, kids can practice reading in a cozy corner, meet some colorful mascots, create crafts, and enjoy other fun activities in the Convention Center’s West Hall, including these special children’s presentations.
The Festival Marketplace: 8 am – 5 pm.
The Marketplace features 60 authors, publishers, and literary-related vendors – a place to shop, browse, and meet local authors.
Kanawha County Public Library’s Annual Used Book Sale: 8 am – 5 pm.
Here’s where you’ll find thousands of bargains on books and other reading materials, all arranged by category. Bring cash, personal checks or your Visa, MasterCard or American Express Card. The book sale is located in the Convention Center’s North Hall.
It’s Free. There is no admission fee and no tickets are required.
