No Day of Show Entries Accepted
The Triple Crown will be occurring Aug 20th thru Sept 28th. Clubs must register in advance to hold the Triple Crown. The games for this year are: Fireball, Greedy and Time Warp. The poll came out with the same games as last year as the winners but the UpDog team decided we didn't want an exact repeat thus 4WP was traded out for Fireball.
The games must be played in the order listed above. If the event plays multiple rounds of the same game only the first round counts towards the Triple Crown.
UpDog will offer cumulative awards (based on all 3 games against all competitors worldwide) for the top teams competing in 4 divisions (Expert, Intermediate, Novice, Youth). We will award the top 10 in any division with 80 entries or more. A minimum of the top 10% will be awarded in divisions with less than 80 entries.
Triple Crown 2025 Divisions
Below are the criteria set forth for determining your division for this year’s Triple Crown. If you and your best dog usually score within the points listed below you should enter that corresponding division with all of your dogs. One human should only be in one division, not multiple divisions.
Triple Crown Divisions - check your game average and enter the appropriate division. If you have not yet played Fireball or have only played it once then use only your Greedy and Time Warp averages as your guideline.
Expert
Fireball 50 and up
Greedy – 38 and up
Time Warp - 70 and up
Intermediate
Fireball - 24-49
Greedy - 23-37
Time Warp - 29-69
Novice
Fireball - 23 or below
Greedy – 22 or below
Time Warp - 28 or below
Youth (youth may opt to enter a higher division if they choose)
Age 15 or below as of 9/28/2025
Special Note – if you placed in the top 10 of your division last year you must move up this year (except for youth).
Example: Terry and Fido usually score around 35 in Fireball, 21 in Greedy and 30 in Time Warp. Terry and Fido would enter the Intermediate division. (This example equals 2 intermediate scores and one novice – therefore the team would enter Intermediate)
For those of you familiar with the team site and the stats pages, essentially these thresholds are roughly based on the percentile ranks from the Team site. Expert Division is the 90th percentile and up, Intermediate is between the 50th percentile to the 89th percentile and Novice is below the 50th percentile. https://teams.updogchallenge.com/games
To see where your scores fall on the percentile rank or to refresh your memory on what you've scored recently just view your profile for your team and scroll down to the results listed by event. Use this to get an idea where you land for your last several rounds of each game and enter the appropriate division. You can also install Ben Moren’s web extension for Google Chrome and it will tell you your average. His post about the web browser extension is pinned to the top of the Discussion page.
Note 1: If a team plays in the Triple Crown more than once, their points from their first TC event will count towards the Triple Crown placements. The subsequent events will still count towards UpDog points and placements at the local event if applicable but will not count towards the overall Triple Crown placements. For those that know in advance that you want your points to count from the 2nd event you attend, fill out this form PRIOR to competing at your first event. If UpDog receives a team's scores twice via Triple Crown results the 1st set will count unless we receive the above form prior to the first event.
Note 2: Your host club may offer divisions that differ from these for awards that day within your local group however these are the divisions that apply for the overall awards for the Triple Crown itself.
