Texas Women Lawyers is excited to host its Annual Meeting and CLEonce again! In 2025, this event will be held in Galveston, Texas, on Friday, April 11th, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, in the ballroom at Tremont House on the historic Strand. Group and discounted room rates are available for those want to stay before or after the event.
Please join us for a day featuring Texas Trailblazers, including distinguished judges, attorneys, public figures, and professionals. The Honorable Justice Ruby Kless Sondock will be the keynote, facilitated by TWL Past President Deirdre Brown, with additional hallmarks of the day to include:
- Luncheon featuring presentations of the Pathfinder Award and Brenda Tso Rising Young Lawyer Award;
- Welcoming Remarks by Theresa Wanat, current President of Texas Women Lawyers;
- Closing Remarks by Misty Blair, current President-Elect of Texas Women Lawyers;
- Many distinguished judges, attorneys, and public figures from around the state;
- CLE presentations and panels covering legal topics affecting women in the law today;
- Breakfast, snacks, and closing cocktail reception with networking;

The Hon. Ruby Kless Sondock -Supreme Court of Texas, 1982- In 1962, Justice Ruby Kless Sondock was one of five women in her graduating class at the University of Houston Law Center. Within only one year of practice, she argued a case before the Texas Supreme Court. She was appointed as a judge on the Harris County Domestic Relations Court in 1973, becoming the first woman district court judge in Harris County, then later appointed to the 234th District Court. In 1982, Sondock was appointed to the Texas Supreme Court to serve the unexpired term of a deceased justice, making her the first woman to serve on the Texas Supreme Court in a regular session of the Court. She then returned to the District Court. After serving as a judge, Sondock worked as a successful private mediator in Houston. In 2015 she was inducted as a Texas Legal Legend by the Litigation Section of the State Bar of Texas, among her many other accolades.
