The Step UP Walk brings together families, friends, educators, therapists, professionals, and community champions to honor the lives, voices, and value of individuals with Down syndrome. Whether you walk in honor of someone you love, rally a team, sponsor the event, or donate, you’re helping build a world where every person with Down syndrome is supported, seen, and celebrated.
Why We Walk
We walk to celebrate. We walk to advocate. We walk to say—loud and clear—that every person with Down syndrome deserves a full, self-determined life. And while the day itself is filled with joy, connection, and fun, it’s also DSNMC’s most important fundraiser of the year. Your participation fuels the vital work we do year-round:
-Educational workshops for parents and caregivers
-The Self-Advocate Community Network, creating space for leadership and friendship
-Teen programming that builds confidence, skills, and social connection
-New Family and Medical Outreach, welcoming families with compassion and guidance
-The Techniques for Success Educator Conference, supporting inclusive education across the region
-Social events that foster joy, connection, and belonging
-Advocacy that challenges barriers and advances inclusion in all areas of life
