FORCED MIGRATION AND INTERNAL DISPLACEMENT

Oxfam Canada Executive Director, Lauren Ravon and Deputy Director - Humanitarian, Dalia Al Awqati will share and discuss their experiences as practitioners and leaders dedicated to building lasting solutions to poverty and injustice, improving lives and promoting the rights of women and girls.


Lauren Ravon is a dedicated feminist and social justice advocate with 20 years of experience in human rights and international development. Lauren has been with Oxfam Canada since 2011, holding several roles, including director of Policy and Campaigns. Lauren has conducted extensive policy research and campaigned on issues of food justice, economic justice, sexual and reproductive health and rights, and the role of women’s movements.

Before joining Oxfam, Lauren worked at the International Centre for Human Rights and Democratic Development (Rights & Democracy) where she managed the organization’s human rights advocacy programs in the Americas.

Lauren holds master's degrees in international affairs and development studies from Columbia University and the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po).


Dalia Al-Awqati is a dedicated humanitarian worker with 20 years of experience working in the non-profit sector, with specialization in humanitarian action and management in complex crises in various locations including Bangladesh, DRC, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Sudan, South Sudan, and Türkiye.

Dalia oversees humanitarian action for Oxfam Canada, provides direction on humanitarian advocacy, and supports efforts to secure funding. Prior to joining Oxfam, Dalia worked with Save the Children where she led humanitarian programs, supported policy and advocacy, and did media engagement.

Dalia holds a master’s degree in Human Rights from Central European University and a bachelor’s degree in Peace and Global Studies from Earlham College in Indiana.
