The 2025 Shop with a Hero Program!
The Kent Island Optimist Club of Queen Anne’s County will be sponsoring our 11th annual community service project this holiday season! The program is called “Shop with a Hero” (previously “Shop with a Cop”). This program team’s children in need with police officers from the area for a $200.00 shopping trip; this allows the children to interact with local police and fire fighters in a positive and personal setting.
The youth are partnered one on one with a police officer or fire fighter and driven in a police car or fire truck to Target, where the children will shop for Christmas gifts with their hero. After shopping they are provided a free breakfast by the American Legion Post 278. While the officers and children enjoy their meal, members of the Optimist club and other volunteers wrap the gifts the children have purchased.
