A little about our Guest Speaker, Captain Paul:
Captain Paul Swain met The Salvation Army over twenty years ago when circumstances in his life were bleak. The Salvation Army said, “yes”, when the rest of the world turned their back. As his relationship with the Army developed, so did his love for Jesus Christ. Paul has been known to say that Jesus saved his soul, but The Salvation Army saved his life.
Paul spent four years volunteering and working with the Army, until he felt God’s call to ministry as a Salvation Army officer. At seminary he met his wife, Jennifer, and they were married three days after being ordained. They have served in Santa Maria and Monterey, CA, as pastors, and eight years ago were transferred to Seattle, WA to give oversight to the Army’s program for those in recovery. Recovery was part of Paul’s story and made this shift feel like coming home.
In July of 2020 Paul and Jennifer transitioned to The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in San Diego, CA. Paul is so grateful to be back in sunny California, especially because it brings him closer to his adult children and his first grandchild, Mila. Paul and his wife have a thirteen-year-old son, Benjamin, and a twelve-year-old daughter, Ivy.
