The Seijitsu Shin Do Kan will be hosting a 4 session seminar with the senior ranking members of the Seijitsu Shin Do Kan teaching.The Okinawa Karatedo Seijitsu Shin Do Kan Kyokai will be hosting a 4 session seminar. This full day of training is to help you as a karate / kobudo practioner to help add a little bit of kobudo to your training, to help you understand your basic techniques at a deeper level and to educate you on the legalities of self defense. We hope that this seminar will help you look outside of your comfort zone and expand your knowledge. This is why we call it the “Outside The Box” Seminar.
Session 1: Nunchaku Kata “Nagamine No Nunchaku Sho” 9AM – 10:30AM – Hanshi Brandon Fisher
We will work the kihon (basics) of the Nunchaku prior to beginning the kata and cover the basics of the kata. This is a fairly rare kata that we think everyone will enjoy. We do have a few sets of Nunchaku that you can borrow but you should bring your own.
Session 2: Goshin Jutsu Waza 10:30AM – 12PM – Renshi Eric Rugh
Close Quarter fighting techniques with Renshi Rugh. Eric Sensei strongly emphasizes close quarter techniques for self defense and he will be sharing with everyone his personal concepts.
LUNCH TIME 12pm – 1pm
Session 3: Naihanchi Nidan 1pm – 3pm with
Hanshi Brandon & Renshi Stephanie Fisher
The older of the 2nd Naihanchi kata in the Kobayashi lineage is traditionally an intermediate level kata. This kata is a powerful but fluid kata and we think everyone will enjoy. We will teach the kata and bunkai.
Session 4: Tuite, Kansetsu Waza, Atemi Waza & Kyusho 3pm – 5pm with
Hanshi Brandon Fisher
The old style concepts of Okinawan karate are not commonly taught anymore and we have tried to preserve them for others. The tuite (grasping or trapping techniques), kansetsu waza (joint locking techniques), atemi waza (striking techniques) and kyusho (pressure point nerve striking techniques) are found in ALL karate kata and this session will help you understand the concepts better to help you find them in your kata.
