Every April, we organize the NK Seeds Invitational Classic, which comprises two divisions: 2011 and 2013. Due to the challenges associated with ice availability, we have made the decision to divide the tournament into two distinct events this year.
The 2011 division tournament will be held from April 25 to 27, 2025 at the Cobourg Community Centre.
The 2013 division tournament is tentatively scheduled for a later date.
This spirited weekend is hosted by Hockey Coaches 4 Hockey Kids and Van Dorp Farms. The primary objective of this event is to foster excitement, competition, camaraderie, and, most importantly, fun for the participants. This AA tournament will assemble players from various associations, providing an opportunity for them to forge new friendships and confront unfamiliar opponents. This year, we anticipate the participation of 12 teams, each representing a local business, as they compete for the coveted Trophy.
Participation in this tournament is invitation-only, and team formation is undertaken by the organizers to ensure equitable matchups, thereby maximizing the excitement and enjoyment for the players. The tournament will feature over 150 participants competing over a three-day period.
These teams, players, and the tournament itself are supported by local businesses that contribute to our community. As with previous years, we will distribute unique, reversible collector jerseys, made possible by the invaluable support of our sponsors. If you, your company, or an individual you know would like to become a sponsor for our upcoming tournament, please do not hesitate to contact us. Each team is guaranteed 4 games. As we lead into tryouts, we will be playing "hybrid checking". Hybrid checking is defined as that which is intended to separate the player from the puck. Unnecessary roughing will be penalized at all levels under regular “roughing” rules. Additionally, open-ice hits where players are moving in opposite directions are not permitted and will be penalized as “roughing”. This decision is intended to help reduce injury just before tryouts.
Volunteers are sought to assist on the day of the tournament with distributing jerseys. Additionally, we are seeking a photographer to capture the memorable moments of the weekend.
