2025 Mental Health Matters Luncheon

Altrusa International Foundation of Appleton, WI Inc. is a non-profit service club that offers financial and volunteer support to local non-profit agencies working to meet basic needs while fostering self-sufficiency.

To celebrate National Mental Health Awareness Month in May 2025, Altrusa Appleton is proud to present the 5th “Mental Health Matters: A Luncheon Honoring Mental Health Awareness Month”.

The luncheon will feature keynote speaker Uma Chatterjee. Today, Uma is an award-winning neuroscientist, world-renowned mental health advocate, and science communicator living a full and purposeful life -but before accurate mental illness diagnoses and effective treatment,her life looked completely different. Uma's keynote address will share her full story, shedding light on both the debilitation that can come from severe mental illness and the hope, healing, and power of recovery through evidence-based treatment and community.

There will be raffle baskets and silent auction items to bid on prior to the luncheon speaker.

Fifty percent of funds raised from the event will be donated directly to NAMI Fox Valley, the Appleton-based affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, which operates mental health support, education, outreach, and advocacy programs that serve thousands of community members each year. The remaining fifty percent of funds raised will support other local nonprofits through Altrusa Appleton’s grants and gifts, and a scholarship for a local high school senior, over the coming year.
