The 2025 Master Gardener Volunteer training classes are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 10 at Cornell AgriTech in Geneva and continue every Wednesday through December 3 (except for November 19 & 26). Classes will start at 9:30am and run until 3pm, with a half hour for lunch and a fifteen minute break morning and afternoon. The cost of this year’s classes will be $150.00. Partial scholarships are available. This cost will include all of the handouts for each class, refreshments, speaker’s fees, travel costs, and administrative fees.
The training is taught by Cornell University professors and other professionals in the horticulture field. A commitment on your part for 50 volunteer hours over a two-year period is also required. These hours can be completed with such projects as: speaking to gardening groups, answering questions on the Horticulture Hot Line, working with 4-H Youth Development, booth participation at the Seneca County Fair and other events, writing articles or radio spots.
The CCE Master Gardener Volunteer (MGV) program is a national program of trained volunteers who work in partnership with their county Cooperative Extension office to educate the public. The program possibilities are only limited by the volunteers’ imagination, so come and be trained and start helping to shape the MGV program in Seneca County!
If you are interested, please call our office at 315-539-9251 or email Tricia at [email protected] to request an application or to ask any questions.
