Hello everybody, Robert Gonzalez, Chris Alvarez, and I are proud to announce a new tradition starting in 2025 called the Lucky Bowler Cup!
The Lucky Bowler Cup is a local Ryder Cup style annual competition between the 3 Lucky Bowler sponsored leagues in Sacramento:
- Classic Scratch League (Mondays at Country Club Lanes)
- Scratch Challenge League (Tuesdays at Bowlero North Sac)
- Thursday Night Shootout League (Thursdays at AMF Rocklin).
Each league will field a team of 12 players to compete in a 2 day tournament to determine which league is the best. The winner takes home the Lucky Bowler Cup trophy and bragging rights for the year!
The 2025 Lucky Bowler Cup will take place on Saturday, February 15th and Sunday, February 16th at Country Club Lanes. Future Cup events will rotate between the 3 host centers.
Each league will set their own criteria for how they form their team, but players who bowl in multiple leagues can only represent 1 league at the Cup event.
Competition will take place in 3 rounds over 2 days and based on total pins (scratch) for each match.
- Day 1 - 3 games of Scotch Doubles (alternate shot)
- Day 1 - 3 games of Traditional Doubles
- Day 2 - 6 games of Singles
The lane condition for both days will be the Kegel Big Ben pattern. You can view the pattern graph here: https://patternlibrary.kegel.net/api/v1/patterns/download?id=8ae2ae8b-d052-ec11-8c62-000d3a5afff3&format=pdf
Team Captains will set lineups, ranking players from 1-12 before each round. Each match will consist of 1 team/player from each league on the same pair of lanes, moving lanes after each game.
The winning score for each match earns 3 points. 2nd place wins 1 point. 3rd place wins 0 points. There will be 96 total points available between the 3 rounds. The team that wins the most overall points after the 3 rounds of competition wins the Cup.
Lastly, like the Ryder Cup, there is no entry fee for the participants but also no prize money. We are playing to represent our league, for bragging rights, and to keep the Cup for 1 year.
Teams are now forming in the respective leagues. More rules, roster announcements, and event details will be made available soon.
Robert, Chris, and I are looking forward to this new adventure, and we hope you will join us February 15th & 16th in supporting your team in the first chapter what promises to be an awesome yearly tradition!
