This year’s Holiday Cheer & Gear donation drive will be held on Thursday, Dec. 4th from 12-7 pm, Friday, Dec. 5 – Saturday, Dec. 6, 8AM – 8PM, and Sunday, Dec. 7 8AM – 12PM at the Henrico Sports & Events Center, 1 All Star Boulevard, Glen Allen, VA, 23059. ESPN Richmond will be LIVE on site to help collect donations and share on the air the good cheer and how this drive impacts our community.
While toys and presents each year are being donated and distributed to young children throughout Greater Richmond – the Salvation Army noted that here was a lack of gifts for boys and girls ages 10 to 16. Holiday Cheer & Gear was created to focus on collecting new sporting goods to deliver to that neglected group of young boys and girls.
Over the years, hundreds of sports “gear” items have been collected, benefiting local teenagers, who in the past would not have received any presents on Christmas Day, now have gifts to open along with their younger siblings and parents.
Holiday Cheer & Gear gladly accepts new, unwrapped sporting goods, equipment and gear.
A list of appropriate items includes:
• Basketballs / Soccer balls / Football / Volleyballs / Skateboards
• Baseballs, Baseball bats & gloves / Tennis balls
Holiday Cheer & Gear also accepts cash donations to purchase new sports equipment for Cheer & Gear. Cash will only be accepted on Thursday, December 4.
And join us right after for the annual Battle of the Badges featuring Henrico Police as they take on Henrico Fire for the coveted trophy. Game tips off at 6 pm.
