2025 Hobby Horse Spring Showcase (Sept) at SOUL Harbour Ranch

Join us for our Hobby Horse Showcases at SOUL Harbour Ranch in our Foglia Family Foundation Training Center! Both new and experienced Hobby Horsers are welcome!

Our Hobby Horse Showcases allow all participants a chance to jump and participate in the various classes but we are not a "competition." Our hope is to introduce MORE potential hobby horse enthusiasts to this fun equestrian-themed sport and give those that are experienced a chance to showcase their skills. Kids AND Adults are welcome to participate.

DATE: Our next Hobby Horse Showcase is Sunday, Sept 21, 2025

TIME: 10:30am-1:30pm (Registration starts at 10:30 until 11:00am. The Fun Jump practice session is also during this time!) *please do not arrive at SOUL Harbour Ranch earlier than 10:30am as we are setting up and getting our event ready!

LOCATION: SOUL Harbour Ranch, 22093 N. Countryside Lane, Barrington IL (parking: go past the house to the cul-de-sac, left down the driveway to the barns, past the 2nd barn/training center and left towards the parking lot, on the North side of the large arena building/training center). *Parking is tight so please carpool with family and friends who are coming to watch.

COST: $15 per participant for 4 events (fun jump, showjumping, barrel racing and high jump). MAXIMUM PARTICIPANTS 50 RIDERS REGISTERED AT EVENTBRITE: NO WALK-INS (No non-RSVP'd riders day of event) We will close registration on 9/20/25.

*Includes cost of 1 HH participant plus 1 non-participating guest; extra guest $5 donation. *Under 16 must be supervised by parents and/or guardians on-site. * 100% of these proceeds benefit the SOUL Harbour Ranch Animal Therapy Program.

WHAT IS A HOBBY HORSE SHOWCASE?

A Hobby Horse Showcase features “riders” who will complete a course of jumps with their hobby horse (a toy horse made of a straight stick with a small horse's head, or any other animal head, attached to one end).

The Hobby Horse Showcase will be divided into the following events which ALL riders will participate in: the fun jump, showjumping, barrel racing and the high jump)

REGISTRATION STARTS AT 10:30am

1. Registration & Fun Jump 10:30-11:00am (ALL ages): not timed, just have fun jumping the course! Use as your practice round before the below competitions.

1. Group Jumping of the Course 11:00-11:15am: all riders will be mentored on the course and jump as a group

3. Showjumping Start time 11:15am-12:15pm *choose 1 division you would like to be in

• Mini Showjumping (poles are on the ground)
• Junior Showjumping (poles at 1 foot)
• Senior Showjumping (poles at 2 feet)

4. Barrel racing 12:15-1:00pm: ALL riders participate in an exhilarating Western contest racing the barrels, racing as fast as you can around the 3 barrels (R barrel, L barrel, far barrel then race on home).

1. High Jump 1:00-1:30pm: ALL riders will be able to participate in the High Jump Competition! (up to 3 feet+) All riders will line up as we start the jumps out low, increasing the height until the last rider who has cleared the highest jump is left standing.

Choreographed dressage routines to music will be evaluated for possible exhibition if time allows. Must be no longer than 2 minutes. We will choose 3-5 routines for possible exhibition during the Showcase. Single or group dressage routines are welcome. You must RSVP to [email protected] with your video 1 week prior to the event.

Riders can wear Derby or riding attire or dress in whatever they deem appropriate with closed toe shoes.

RAFFLE: we will be raffling off a 2 hour private Hobby Horse visit at SOUL Harbour Ranch for the winner and 10 closest family members or friends. Tickets: $5 each or 5 for $20. You can buy your tickets here at Eventbrite or purchase tickets the day of the HH Showcase.
