2025 Dr. Martin Luther King Unity Day

The SCLC Tuscaloosa County Chapter Executive Board will host its annual Dr. MLK Unity Day of events on January 20th, 2025, commencing with the 8:00am MLK Unity Day Breakfast at Beulah Baptist Church, 3100 25th Street, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35401. The Breakfast Master of Ceremony will be Sandra Johnson famed Praise 93.3 - Tuscaloosa Gospel Radio personality, the Keynote will feature Dr. Joseph F. Scrivner, Dean of Chapel, Stillman College, accompanied by the Stillman College Choir. During the Unity Breakfast, the SCLC Tuscaloosa County Chapter will present four Mountain Top Awards to distinguished community advocates, leaders, and civil rights pioneers. The Chapter will also celebrate the legacy, service, and impact of Mr. James Horton in Tuscaloosa and West Alabama. VIP tables are available for $250.00, while general seating tickets are $25.00. Tables are limited

The noonday MLK Unity March will commence at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School and proceed to Tuscaloosa City Hall. Please note that participant lineup will begin at 11:15am in front of the school. Tuscaloosa National Pan Hellenic Council will be the Grand Marshalls for the 2025 MLK Unity March.

The MLK Day of Events will conclude with the Legacy and Retirement celebration of Dr. Charles Steele, Jr, President of the International Southern Christian Leadership Conference. The mass rally will be held at 5 p.m. at First African Baptist Church, 2621 Stillman Blvd. Ads for the Commemorative Souvenir Booklet are $200 full page and $145.00 half page, must be purchased by January 10th, 2025.

The Tuscaloosa County Chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference is thrilled to announce the addition of MLK Unity Day Youth King, Queen, & Ambassadors – This is an exciting opportunity for young leaders to represent their Church Youth Department, Youth Association, and/or Community/Collegiate Program during the MLK Unity Day of events, January 20th, 2025.
