Everyone welcome! The door opens at 7:00pm. The talk starts at 7.30pm.It's time again for the annual photo competition. The way this works is that clubs organise their own internal competition and then forward the winning two photos from each category to FMC for the overall competition. The winning entries are published in the November issue of FMC’s Backcountry magazine. There are also prizes for winners in the FMC competition, see the link below under Rules.
The categories are listed below and don’t really need any explanation, except that Long Exposure means using a long exposure to reveal something that the naked eye can’t see, such as astro photography. Blurring water motion doesn’t count.

Entries
You may enter up to four photos in each category; they must be at least 1 MB in size, and no larger than 5 MB. If you can’t shrink your photos I can take care of that for you, but if it too small there is nothing I can do. I'm flexible on the number of photos, but not the minimum size, FMC will reject anything that is too small.
Upload your photos to CTC Photo Competition 2025 - Google Drive, if you can’t upload for any reason you can email to [email protected]. Please name the photo with the category, your name, and a caption.
Entries close on 8 September. We will present all the entries at the club meeting on 10 September and vote for the best photos.
Rules
The competition rules are here: FMC Photo Competition – FMC. You can ignore the “How to enter” section, it’s not relevant to CTC members.
One very important rule is that photos must be taken in New Zealand, and must be less than than 2 years old, unless they are entered in the Historic category.
Photo Naming
It would be helpful if you could name your photos the way FMC requires them, and it will save me some work. However as long as you tell me your name, the category, and the caption, I will take care of it.
The naming convention is: Code, club name (1st word in full please), photographer and then caption in that order.
e.g. BBN Christchurch TC John Kerkhofs Dawn on Aoraki
(Please note - no dots, dashes or underscores in the file name and put complete 1st word of club name)
