Black History Month is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of Black communities in Canada, listen to their stories, and learn more about their history and contributions to Canadian society. Every February, people across Canada participate in Black History Month events and festivities that honour the legacy of Black people in Canada and their communities. The theme for this year’s Black History Month: “Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations.” No matter where you live, we invite all Canadians to learn more about Black Canadian communities, and how they continue to help shape Canada.Purpose of this Event: To foster collaboration between Medicine Hat’s civic and economic leaders while exploring strategies to enhance community engagement and drive sustainable growth. By connecting diverse voices from the Black community in business, civic, and non-profit sectors, this summit aims to identify actionable solutions to propel the local economy and strengthen collective impact.
