It's almost that time of the year where our community shows their support for the Bond County Military serving our country! We involve the schools, churches and businesses in Bond County as collection sites, decorating the care packages in festive Christmas paper, letters of thanks from students/community members and items for the service members at the holiday time.
We will start placing the donation boxes starting October 27th through October 31st at schools/churches/businesses. If you would like a donation box, please let me know.
We will gather the donations until the afternoon/evening of November 14th.
We will pack the mailing boxes on November 15th starting at 9 am. Our Military moms and the volunteers have done this for at least 10 years so we get quicker every year. We are usually done by 12 pm. The community is welcome to help as well.
A donation list of items allowed and not allowed will be emailed to the Bond County Schools, WGEL and on the donation boxes themselves. If Halloween candy goes on sale, those are great ideas for those stationed overseas for trade up material. :)
We then mail the care packages November 17th and 18th to our Bond County service members which include National Guard, Reserves and Active duty.
If you know of any Bond County military serving our country that fits the description above, please let Dianah Kuhl-Troemel know before November 7th so we can have the mailing labels ready for packing.
If there are any leftover donations that we cannot mail, we donate them to veterans homes.

P.S. We welcome any monetary donations for care package postage. Large Flat Rate boxes that we pack full, can range between $25 and $28 for each box. We usually ship at least 12 overseas packages, 20 stateside. Numbers vary depending on how many people are serving from Bond County.
