About this Event
Please join Minnetonka Public Schools and the Minnetonka Alumni Association as we celebrate the accomplishments of our outstanding alumni and former faculty members on Saturday, September 27 for our alumni awards event. The sixteenth annual event will be held from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at Minnetonka High School. A complimentary brunch will be served.
We will proudly honor alumni in following categories:
Distinguished Alumni Award
- Victoria Anne Johnson '74 (Posthumous) – A renowned physician and HIV/AIDS researcher, Dr. Johnson was a global leader in antiviral drug development and help set international standards for HIV care. As the first female faculty member in UAB’s Infectious Diseases Division, she authored nearly countless scientific papers, mentored hundreds of physicians, and played a pivotal role in advancing clinical treatment worldwide.
- Cynthia McCollum '76 – McCollum has championed our justice system for three decades first as a public defender and now as a judge in Dakota County. A longtime professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law, she has mentored countless students nationwide through mock trial and trial advocacy.
Distinguished Service Award
- Scott Artley '05 – As a nonprofit leader, artist, and advocate, Artley spent his career empowering marginalized voices through the arts. As the first Accessibility Program Director at the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council (MRAC), he helped underrepresented artists secure vital resources while building community through creativity, mentorship, and advocacy. After leaving MRAC, he started his own conultant focused on strategic planning, accessibility assessments, trainings, and speaking engagements.
Young Alumni Achievement Award
- Lizzy Adams '15 – A public relations specialist and writer based in Washington, D.C., Adams serves as the lead writer for the Department of Veterans Affairs Homeless Programs. Her advocacy has contributed to national awareness campaigns, including a Senate hearing on military housing. Whether supporting the VA, RAINN, or sustainability nonprofits, she uses her voice to amplify stories that matter.
Skippers Hall of Fame
- 1994–95 MHS Cheerleading Team – The 1994-95 MHS Cheerleading Team built lasting bonds rooted in excellence, perseverance, and spirit. Their historic accomplishments—including four straight state titles, a top-10 national finish, and national recognition—continue to inspire, reflecting a legacy of strength that has endured for 30 years.
Faculty Hall of Fame
- John Peterson - Peterson inspired generations of students with his passion for science, his engaging classroom style, and his unwavering support for every learner. Known for making biology meaningful and accessible, he sparked lifelong interests in the sciences for many who went on to become doctors, researchers, and educators. Beyond the classroom, Peterson built lasting connections with his students, shaping lives with compassion, humor, and a deep commitment to education.
- Jane Reimer-Morgan - Reimer-Morgan has coached girls cross country and track and field at Minnetonka for more than four decades, building one of the most respected programs in the state. Her teams have won 10 state titles and countless honors, but her lasting legacy is the character and confidence she instilled in thousands of young women. Known for her tireless leadership, mentorship, and compassion, she is a role model for athletes and coaches alike.
