About this Event
Welcome to the 2025 Afrofuturist Art Fair!
On Tuesday, June 10 2025, we will host an evening of performances, visual art, music, and community at THE AFROFUTURIST ART FAIR: Community Book Launch & Listening Party.
Immerse yourself in a world where art, philosophy, and culture collide. From futuristic narratives to visual art installations, this event will transport you to a realm where the possibilities are endless. From futuristic narratives to visual art installations, this event will transport you to a realm where the possibilities are endless.
This immersive one-day event is an extension of Bairton Brown’s sci-fi series, BLACKTOPIA—an inspiring multimedia adventure that amplifies Black and Brown LGBTQ+ voices through audio performance, visual landscapes, and writing. This event brings the project’s mission to life, offering a space for community-building, collective reflection, and healing.
More than a single iteration, BLACKTOPIA is a groundbreaking series and model for storytelling dedicated to empowering underrepresented realities in media. I
What to Expect:
- Listening Party: A special preview of “BLACKTOPIA: PART TWO,” examining themes of climate change, the emerging refugee crisis, and its intersections with Black and queer liberation. Starring Justen Ross (Fight Night), Cameron Knight (Last King On The Cross), and Jasmine Cheri Rush.
- Free Book Signing: Participants will have the opportunity to meet the authors of BLACKTOPIA Part One and Two, and receive a signed copy of each novella!
- Post-Show Talkbacks: Enlightening conversations with activists, artists, and scientists on coalition-building, collective world-building, and mutual care.
- Free Beverages, Desserts, Music & Meditation: In addition to handouts about local resources, participants will have access to our in-house offerings: musical performances, visual art exhibitions, and wellness activations!
- Communal Networking: Before and after the main events, we encourage participants to develop long-lasting connections with each other.
This event will be a radically accessible celebration of Black storytelling, art, and community. But to make it truly unforgettable, we need YOU!
Today, we’re launching our GoFundMe campaign to ensure:
- Free, signed copies of each book for attendees.
- Catering from Black-Owned orgs to nourish our community.
- Equitable wages for the brilliant artists bringing this vision to life!
We’re just three months away—let’s make this a gathering for the ages!
Every dollar, share, and word of encouragement fuels this movement.
