Investing in African American ScholarsA Legacy of Excellence (ALOE) was founded with the intention to empower and invest in the future of African American students in the Tucson Unified School District (TUSD). By providing scholarships to graduating seniors who have achieved academically, are active in their community, and aspire to go on to higher education, we are fulfilling our vision of creating an equitable future for all.
Since our founding, we have awarded scholarships to 130 students, totaling over $500,000 in financial support. These scholarships have made a significant impact on the lives of our students and their families, helping them to realize their dreams of a college education. Unfortunately, many African American students face significant financial barriers when it comes to pursuing higher education. The cash scholarships from ALOE help to alleviate some of these financial burdens, making higher education accessible for more students.
Education is one of the most powerful tools to create lasting positive change. By donating to ALOE scholarships, you are helping to create a more just future for our community, one student at a time — and you wouldn’t be alone.
Over the years, friends and partners have joined us for many celebrations. The most notable being our annual scholarship banquet, which will be held May 3, 2025. Please join us in our mission to create a legacy of excellence in our community by making a donation.
