We are delighted to welcome Paralympic gold-medalist and University of Arkansas alumnus Hunter Woodhall as our featured speaker. Woodhall made history as the first double-amputee to earn a Division I track scholarship, and his remarkable achievements on the global stage—culminating in a gold medal in the T62 400 m at the 2024 Paralympics—make him an inspiring leader for this year’s event.
Each sports season, the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette editorial committee selects outstanding teams and athletes for our end-of-season feature. In golf, tennis, cross country and swimming/diving, teams emerge from statewide competitions. For volleyball, football, wrestling and basketball, the committee names a first team, second team and sophomore team in both male and female categories. All of these honorees will be recognized on stage at the banquet.
From each sport we will also present a male Outstanding Player of the Year and a female Outstanding Player of the Year. Then, in the grand finale, one stellar athlete will be crowned Overall Male Athlete of the Year, one as Overall Female Athlete of the Year, and one remarkable leader will be honored as Coach of the Year.
This is a premier event in Arkansas high-school athletics—an evening of pride, accomplishment and connection. We look forward to celebrating the best of the best together, and hearing Hunter Woodhall’s powerful message of resilience, performance and possibility.
