***Now, for the unexpected updates for our participants, VISITORS ESPECIALLY***
Obviously, Asheville and the surrounding county is still recovering from a natural disaster; we feel confident with the progress being made over the past weeks here that our event will come at perfect timing to provide precious economical help to the businesses that will be open by that weekend. But, to set the proper level of expectations, there will still be PLENTY of businesses and areas recovering and rebuilding by the time that you get here. We will not be the picturesque, fall mountain-town that most of you remember, especially from one neighborhood to the next.
Current areas of Asheville to avoid at the moment are Swannanoa River Rd, the Biltmore Village neighborhood, and the entirety of the River Arts District. Most other locations were left in good shape after the storm.
We know that hotels and accommodations are a big concern for everyone right now; all hotels in the area are currently working with FEMA to provide space for displaced families and relief workers, and availability can fill up or empty at a moment's notice. While many of them are eager to provide regular guest space, each hotel is taking it's own approach to when that time will be. Much of the hotel rooms being taken up at the moment are for relief workers, and spaces are slowly starting to open up as progress is made each week and out-of-state teams are beginning to leave.
Currently, our hotel partner Hampton Inn is still honoring our hotel block at their location across the street from the venue, and we can continue to open up more spaces as needed for anyone struggling to find accommodations elsewhere. OUR SPECIAL RATE IS ONLY VALID UNTIL MIDNIGHT ON THURSDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2024, any reservation booked after this date will be subject to availability and the best available rate at that time.

TO OUR LOCAL THROWERS: we would like to open the discussion section of this event here to anyone willing to open their homes as a place to stay for anyone coming in from out of town. And if anyone is struggling to find accommodations, feel open to shout it out here and we can all jump in to find options for you!!
Lastly, nearly all resources have been returned to our county, but water has been the long-lasting issue and a wildcard to everyone's efforts to open up and return to business. A large portion of areas in Asheville have had water returned to them, however, CLEAN water will take some time for us to get back entirely - this may still be the case as we approach the tournament weekend. Most residents are on a "boil water notice" before using city water for things like washing food, dishes and hands, etc. Showering is safe at the moment, but not advised for children, elderly or anyone with weakened immune systems or recent open wound injuries. We will keep you all updated to the current state of clean water as we near the event.
While we are tired and weary from these last weeks of recovery and rebuilding, make no mistake, I know we speak for the ENTIRE Asheville throwing community when we say we are still eager and excited to see all of our extended community coming in from out of town and state to throw with us. Please let us know what questions or concerns any of you have.
Love,
Valhalla AVL
