This event has a sliding scale ticket price. As part of our efforts to build equity awareness into all parts of our work, it is important for us as an organization to recognize that our valued community members come to events like this with varying resources, and the "true cost" ticket price might be out of budget for some of our friends and neighbors. For that reason, we're using "The Purple Bottle" guide for our sliding scale tickets this year. This model is adapted from The Green Bottle model created by Alexis J. Cunningfolk in 2015, and it allows you to place yourself on the sliding scale by considering a few simple questions, found here.
$75: This price represents the true cost, including staff time, of creating this event. It is the cost we would charge all attendees if we did not have a sliding scale. If you are able to pay for "wants" in your life and spend little time worried about securing necessities in your life, this price is for you. Additionally, if you work for a local business and the business is paying for your ticket, this is the price we recommend.
$50: This price represents the material cost (without staff time), of creating this event. If you have access to steady income and are not overly stressed about meeting basic needs, but you are struggling to conquer debt, build savings, or move away from paycheck-to-paycheck living, this is the level for you. If your employer is paying for your ticket and is a nonprofit with a budget of $1M or less, this is the price we recommend.
$25: This price represents an honest acknowledgment that there are people whose economic circumstances would prevent them from attending if there was not a deliberate opportunity made for them to access it at a cost that is reflective of their economic realities. If you struggle to maintain access to needs such as health care, housing, food, child care, and are living paycheck to paycheck, you deserve a community that honors your price as equal to the economic offering of a person who can pay the highest tier.
Businesses and organizations: For information about purchasing full tables (tables are $525 and seat eight), please contact Grace Kendall at [email protected].
