Celebrate the diverse voices shaping New Jersey's media landscape!
The Center for Cooperative Media at Montclair State University invites you to join us for the 2024 New Jersey Ethnic and Community Media Celebration & Awards ceremony. This event recognizes and promotes the crucial role of ethnic and community media in serving diverse communities across the state.
Our celebration will bring together journalists, elected officials, and community leaders to highlight the indispensable work of media professionals reporting in more than 20 languages and representing over a dozen diverse communities in New Jersey.
Attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Network with fellow journalists and media professionals from across the state
- Hear from distinguished speakers about the importance of ethnic and community media
- Celebrate award-winning journalism that serves New Jersey's diverse populations
- Learn about potential collaborations and partnerships in the local media ecosystem
This in-person event will feature a lunch, ceremony, and networking opportunities.

Meet our speaker:
Mazin Sidahmed is the co-executive director of Documented NY. Mazin previously worked for the Guardian US in New York during the 2016 US elections, where he covered a variety of issues including surveillance and criminal justice, as well as the rise of hate crimes following the election. Mazin left the news desk to join the award-winning Guardian Mobile Innovation Lab where he helped develop new mobile-specific story formats. He started his career writing for The Daily Star in Beirut. He reported on the Syrian refugee crisis, weapons transfers to Lebanon and the plight of migrant domestic workers. Upon moving to the U.S., Mazin also contributed to Politico New York where he covered real estate, with a focus on the New York City Housing Authority, and City politics.

Travel and parking
- Amtrak trains for Trenton and Princeton Junction leave Penn Station in New York City and 30th Street Station in Philadelphia.
- New Jersey Transit provides rail service to Princeton Junction, Hamilton, and Trenton from New York City and the surrounding area.
- The 601 bus schedule may be consulted for bus service from the Trenton train station. The Hamilton station is a 10-minute drive from the TCNJ campus.
- Complimentary parking permits will be provided to attendees for Lots V, 5, 6, 7 and 17.
