About the Speakers

James W. Potts - Keynote Speaker

Jim Potts, owner of Potts & Associates Inc., has represented and assisted employers in a variety of areas involving employer-employee relations for almost 42 years. He is a native New Yorker who earned a BA degree in history from California State University at Los Angeles and a Juris Doctorate from the University of West Los Angeles Law School.

During his last year in law school, Potts began working for National Employers Counsel; an employer group that helps companies reduce their unemployment taxes. Potts rose to corporate senior vice president after he successfully introduced new programs to assist their clients in all aspects of human resources.

In 1992, Potts formed JWP Consulting Group and, a few years later, joined forces with Armstrong, an 18-year veteran of the industry, who specialized in non-profit employers. Potts, Armstrong & Associates was in the right place at the right time, and began to grow rapidly. In 1999, after viewing the increasingly positive market opportunities and trends, Potts decided to form Potts & Associates and take his organization to a new level.

Throughout his professional years Potts has also attained his Real Estate Brokers License, has facilitated lectures as a Master Teacher for the University of Phoenix for 13 years, is a former Reserve Captain and Terrorist Investigator working with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, and is currently a certified mediator through the Los Angeles County Bar Association, and a published author (Right to Counsel, July 2008).
