This year’s dinner celebrates a year of special achievement by honoring two Game Changers. Our individual recipient is Phil Hodanbosi, and our organizational recipient is Barberton Public Library.
In case you are not aware, Phil Hodanbosi is someone who made significant impact on the lives of many people, some in his classroom and many who will never know him. Though he passed away this February, we are pleased to honor his life and work at Barberton City School District as an 8th grade math teacher at U.L. Light, as a football and basketball coach, as an instructional coach, and as a grant writer who advocated passionately for our community. Phil worked with coworker Elissa Young to secure one last grant – a $1.4 million Ohio Department of Education and Workforce grant to further augment two of Barberton High School’s already advanced Four Cities Compact programs.
We are excited to recognize Barberton Public Library for 121 years of service to our community. Led by Director Ann Hutchison, the library constantly adapts to the needs of today’s Barberton citizens. One of the most recent evolutions at the library is called “Library of Things” where card holders can check out a whole range of non-media items, from a fishing pole to a steel drum.
These Game Changers inspire us with their commitment to make a positive impact in our community while going about their business with humility and a high standard of excellence. This year, our recipients remind us of what true servant leadership looks like.
