As part of the medical school’s 20th anniversary celebrations, we are hosting a special 'BSMS20 Arts' event from 2-5pm on Saturday 25 May in the Medical Teaching Building on the University of Sussex campus.
Founding Professor of Primary Medical Care, Helen Smith, was instrumental in embedding arts in the BSMS curriculum and culture and forged excellent relationship with the local arts community that thrive to this day. She will be hosting an afternoon to share the perspectives of BSMS alumni and the artists and educators we have worked with across the years on the role of arts-based practice in a medical school and beyond.
The talks and discussions will be accompanied by an exhibition of the art of BSMS medical students, alumni, artists and educators
The event includes talks by 3 members of the Institute of Unnecessary Research: Anna Dumitriu, Simon Hall and Lucy McCabe who are also exhibiting work, alongside 4th IUR member Rosie Sedgwick.
Event Details: From 2:00PM to 5:00PM at 25th May 2024 followed by a drinks reception
