2% Jazz. 98% Funky Stuff: A Visual Exploration of Kinston's Music History

With a title that riffs on a Maceo Parker quote, 2% Jazz. 98% Funky Stuff is an exhibit designed to honor Kinston’s vast music history in a visual format.
We asked NC-based artists to honor and highlight a Kinston musician via portraiture, biographical imagery, or (the funky stuff) artwork was made by interpreting the sounds and feelings in a piece of their music. Meaning, yeah, the artists played the song on repeat.
Join us for the exhibit opening reception at the smART Gallery, 210 N. Queen St., Downton Kinston from 1-4PM on Saturday, November 7th.
Additional details coming soon. This show will run through mid-January 2027.
*Event/flyer art is a portrait of Dick Knight by Jamil Burton*
