Social Venture School is for individuals and groups who have an idea for social change. Attending the Social Venture School is free and provides access to expert support to help you plan your enterprise journey. The school will help you to build a plan for your venture, meet inspirational speakers from other local enterprises, and join a network of like-minded people.Offering the school through Business For Good West Yorkshire, the Social Venture School is fully funded, which is why we offer free places.
What will you get out of it?
The two-day school will guide you through the Social Venture Toolkit; so you will leave with a basic business plan. It can help you…
Choose the right legal structure/business model
Communicate your ideas
Understand finance and create a sustainable model
Find and apply for funding
Consider stakeholders and relationships
Complete impact monitoring
Connect with people who are on similar journeys to you
What's the commitment?
The Social Venture School runs over two days from 9:30am-3pm and also offers follow-up meetings with one of our specialist Enterprise Coaches if you want more support. We understand that two days is a big commitment, so we make sure the time is packed with information, opportunities to network, and lots of interactive and small group work. As well as providing lunch for free!
Who is it delivered by?
The school will be delivered by Participate, one of the Business for Good WY partners, who are working in partnership with local community anchor Halifax Opportunities Trust. Participate is a community regeneration charity that supports both new and existing individuals and organisations to develop and grow social ventures. Participate will bring in specialist speakers and partners to help deliver the Social Venture School.
Business for Good West Yorkshire is led by TSL Kirklees and delivered by a partnership of local providers - Participate Projects, Voluntary Action Leeds, SEE Ahead, Coop Culture and Stir to Action supported by national organisations Co-operatives UK and School for Social Entrepreneurs.
