Fall 2026 Long Line Sewing for Beginners
1st Saturdays • Gore Hall • 11:00 AM–1:30 PM
Optional text: “My First Quilt Book: Machine Sewing” by Winky Cherry
Required: Sewing Machine, Sewing Kit, thread and fabric
This introductory class is designed for students who have never sewn before, as well as beginners who want to strengthen their “long-line” stitching skills before moving on to making garments. Students will build confidence by making stitch samplers, a pillowcase, and a lap quilt using patterns from Winky Cherry’s book.
This class emphasizes foundational sewing skills, accuracy, and comfort with straight and long-line stitching in a relaxed, supportive environment.
You can keep your projects or donate them to children’s hospital charities!

Cost: Sliding scale $60-$90 for the series. Students may add an optional $5–$10 to their chosen base fee to contribute to the scholarship fund.
There is one full scholarship and two half scholarships available on “First come, first serve.”

Oct 3: Sewing Machine Intake Sheet, Sewing with Thread Sampler, Start Pillowcase
Nov 7: Finish Pillowcase, Start Quilt
Dec 5: Finish Quilt, End of Class Cupcakes
