Welcome to the award winning Red Fern Festival, voted best premier event in Oklahoma in 2025!Red Fern Festival is one of the largest free, family-friendly community events in Cherokee County. Iconic in Tahlequah’s Spring lineup, drawing over 30,000 people to beautiful Downtown Tahlequah where over 150 colorful vendors, food, live music and activities await, creating an enticing blend of art, culture, music and community.
The festival began 17 years ago and has grown into the signature event of Tahlequah Main Street. The festival features many local artisans, several of whom have been with the show since its inception. Over the years, Red Fern Festival has spread its impact to draw arts and crafts vendors from all over Northeast Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas, Kansas and Missouri. The solid support, resources and dedicated staff of Tahlequah Main Street, and the City of Tahlequah come together to present a professional, well-run event for the artisans, vendors and thousands of people who visit every year.
The festival pays homage to the classic Wilson Rawls novel, Where the Red Fern Grows. The novel was set in the foothills of the Ozarks in and around Tahlequah, Oklahoma.
