Established July 1866, our Buffalo Soldiers were established after our bloody and costly US Civil War. 16,000 USCT served under command of General Weitzel along the Rio Grande River Basin all the way to California. Today, we recognize the unique service Buffalo Soldiers played here along our Calffornia Buffalo Soldiers Trail and beyond.
