The 16 Hours Outdoor First Aid course is certified for three years and is the approved course for RYA, BCU, MLTB and other NGB awards including:
• Mountain Leaders,
• Climbing Instructors,
• Ski Instructors,
• Mountain Guides,
• Canoe and Kayak Instructors,
• Mountain Bike Instructors,
• Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Leaders,
• Field Assistants
Course information
* Some elements of the course will involve practical lessons outside so sensible clothing is advised.
* Fake blood maybe used for effects that does wash out.
* Participants may be paired with participants of the opposite sex for elements of training. This can be a discussed and adjustments made with the trainer prior to course starting if required.
Assessments:
Learners must be able to complete 2 minutes of CPR at floor level to pass the CPR assessments. Other assessments will also require work on the ground with practical scenarios on a live casualty. There is no requirement for the learners to play casualty on this course.
At the end of day 2 there is a multiple-choice question paper to complete and pass to gain the Outdoor First Aid certification.
Certificates:
The Outdoor First Aid course is certified by Optimal First Aid and the first aid certificate complies with the requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. The certificate also satisfies the criteria for First Aid training for all Outdoor NGB qualifications including MLT, British Canoeing, Canoe Wales, NCLA, and RYA.
