The conference aims to address the key question (practical and theoretical) of how the Diaspora can help their countries of origin accelerate the implementation of the and its at half-way to its finishing line.
Following WASD successful conference co-organized with the in the in 2018 as an expression of participatory, open and multi-stakeholder approach that underlies , we invite all stakeholders including universities to join us in this global conference to explore innovative strategies, collaborative initiatives, and transformative approaches that empower educational leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to accelerate progress towards a sustainable future.
The conference will focus, but not limited on these key areas:
- Increasing the role of universities in accelerating the implementation of the Agenda 2030 and its in the Diaspora countries of origin.
- How Diaspora can help in evaluating the status of implementation of national commitments in their countries of origin (questions to be asked: lessons learned as presented in national voluntary reports).
- Improving public health and well-being in the Diaspora countries of origin.
- Achieving SDG: a perspective from donor countries, how Diaspora can cooperate with national and international organisations and donors to achieve SD in their countries of origin.
- Strengthening Diaspora knowledge and skills about Artificial Intelligence, innovation and intellectual resources to accelerate development of their countries of origin and avoid not to accentuate polarization.
- What role(s) the Diaspora can play in peace and security in their countries of origin particularly countries under wars and conflicts such as Sudan, Palestine, Ukraine, etc.
- The conference will also aim to provide an analysis of selected Diaspora countries of origin Voluntary National Reports of the status of implementation of national commitments by learning lessons from what is presented in these reports. The conference is offering an opportunity for the Diaspora to study various national reports each and draft some conclusions about the implementation of SDGs in these countries. Participants are required to prepare a paper of maximum two pages in which they will draw their conclusions and the findings will be presented at the conference in Geneva.
