15th Annual Doug Hennes Herf

For the uninitiated, a Herf is simply a fancy term for a gathering of friends and acquaintances to relax, unwind, and smoke premium cigars. You won't find any drug store cigars at a Herf! The Herf was started in 2010 by the late Doug Hennes in the backyard of his home in Eagan, Minnesota, and has grown to become an annual event eagerly anticipated by more than 100 brothers and sisters of the leaf. The main theme of this event is relaxation and camaraderie; everything else is secondary, even the cigars.

New this year - The 2025 Doug Hennes Herf is free! The grill will be fired up, so bring your own beverage, whatever you would like to grill, and a side dish or dessert to share, and there should be plenty of food to go around. Marco V cigars will be available for purchase (at a discount from cigar store prices).

We will have a tip jar for donations to ThreeSixty Journalism, a nonprofit program of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of St. Thomas, co-founded by Doug Hennes. ThreeSixty Journalism uses the principles of strong writing and reporting to help diverse Minnesota youth tell the stories of their lives and communities. Donations to ThreeSixty Journalism will be matched (up to $500) by your hosts.
